ZOO Skopje: The Lama was treated, everything was done from a medical point of view
The Skopje Zoo said this afternoon on Facebook that it is a deadly lama that has been treated in collaboration with the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine this afternoon.
– We would like to inform you that in the past period with the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine we were treating and contributing a lama that, although made from medical and care, unfortunately died. The autopsy and results (with PCR method) have shown tuberculosis in this Lama, in a process that is older than five years. There is no cure for animals, nor is there a vaccine, and often for years diseased individuals show no symptoms. Immediately in cooperation and counseling with the CAA (Food and Veterinary Agency), tuberculin tests were performed on all lamas and we monitor their situation daily and are under medical supervision. The lamas are domestic animals from the camel family, who come from South America, the announcement said.
Earlier, MIA’s Food and Veterinary Agency confirmed that on Friday, an extraordinary inspection was carried out after receiving an application for a dick of a Lama and another lama.
– Samples have been taken for laboratory testing from the dead Lama, which has been confirmed by laboratory testing that she was suffering from tuberculosis. Samples are taken from the affected animal Lama who later died. The results of the analysis to determine the cause of the death and the second animal is not yet ready. At the Lami Lamas in the ZOO Garden Skopje, an official veterinarian has arranged biosecondary measures to prevent the spread of the disease and testing of other lamas in the breeder – the CAA response to MIA said.
