Zelensky supports break in attacks on infrastructure
The Ukrainian President manifested this Tuesday favorable to a 30-day truce with Russia in attacks on infrastructure and energy targets. However, Volodymyr Zelensky wants to see the details with Washington.
« We will support these proposals, but it is very interesting to know the details and what is really being proposed, » said the Ukrainian leader at a press conference.
Zelensky commented on the result of a telephone conversation held this afternoon between US presidents Donald Trump and Russia Vladimir Putin about the conflict in his country.
Zelensky warned, on the other hand, that the conditions established by Putin for an extended truce with Kiev aim to weaken Ukraine and show that he is not ready to end the war.
« Your whole game is to weaken us as much as possible, » he said about the conditions released by Kremlin. These include the end of Ukraine rearmament and the interruption of Western military support to Kiev, as well as the sharing of information services data.
At his press conference, Volodymyr Zelensky reaffirmed that Ukrainian troops continue to fight in the Russian Kursk region, although Moscow previously indicated that they were surrounded. « The Ukrainian military are there. And they will stay there while we need this operation, » he said.
The US and Russian presidents agreed on Tuesday with a 30-day ceasefire in the conflict in Ukraine, although limited to attacks against energy targets and infrastructure, the White House announced.
Following a telephone conversation, Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin also agreed to start the peace negotiations immediately, a statement from the US presidency said.
Future negotiations should take place in the Middle East.
