Zelenski gives new assurances on peace
Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelenski gave assurances on Friday that he wants « Peace as soon as possible », before an American-Ukrainian meeting next week and according to the critics of the Washington administration that Ukrainian president would refuse to negotiate with Moscow, AFP reports.
« A very intense work with the team of President (Donald) Trump took place all day at different levels, with numerous calls. The theme is clear: Peace as soon as possible, « Zelenski said in his daily speech broadcast on social networks.
US President Donald Trump said on Friday that it is easier to treat with Russia than with Ukraine, in the efforts meant to conclude the war between these two countries, and claimed to trust Russian President Vladimir Putin, AFP and Reuters notes.
« Honestly, I find it more difficult to treat with Ukraine, who does not have the » negotiation books, « said Trump in front of the press. « It is probably easier to treat with Russia, » the US president said, one week after his meeting at the White House with Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelenski has turned into a quarrel. Among the reproaches that Trump then addressed to Zelenski is that he negotiates hard and is trying to dictate although he has a poor negotiation position.
Delegates from Ukraine and the US will have a meeting in Saudi Arabia next week to discuss a framework for a peace agreement, according to Washington.
