Zelenski announced an idea for a meeting of Ukraine, Russia, the EU, the US and the UK

President Volodimir Zelenski said on Monday that Kiev and his partners are considering organizing a high -level meeting between Ukraine, Russia, the United States, the European Union and the United Kingdom as part of the efforts to end Moscow’s war in Ukraine, Reuters reported.

In a conversation with reporters in Kiev after two telephone conversations with US President Donald Trump, the Ukrainian leader expressed hope that the meeting would be held as soon as possible and that the hosts could be Turkey, the Vatican or Switzerland. « We’re considering a high -level team meeting, » he said.

Zelenski said he spoke with Trump on Monday before the US leader called Russian President Vladimir Putin, and again then in a conversation involving the leaders of France, Finland, Germany, Italy and the EU.

Zelenski said that during his initial conversation with Trump, he emphasized the need to end the fire and sanctions against Russia, as well as the importance of not reaching agreements with Russia without Ukraine.

« I’m very focused, now it’s a difficult time for us, » he said.

Putin’s conversation with Trump, at least, according to the White House and the Kremlin’s messages, showed that differences remain about how to achieve peace. Trump explained, without providing details that the two parties began « immediately » negotiations to stop the fire, and Putin had previously explained that such a step depends on « reaching arrangements ».

But the Russian leader also said that Moscow is ready to work with Ukraine for a memorandum for the future peace treaty. This happened days after the first direct negotiations of the two countries in three years, at the request of the United States.
