Zadar broke Split, yellow complain: ‘They racistly insulted Shorte, and mentioned Jordan family!’
In the meeting of two Croatian representatives in the last, 30th round of the Regional Basketball ABA League Zadar has overcome the host Split with 81-80 (16-16, 17-19, 23-17, 25-28). The duel also had a third half. Namely, because of the insults that were suffered by the visiting basketball players, they addressed the Split Commissioner for the Domestic Championship, seeking better protection in Sunday’s game in the same hall.

« Encouraged by the ruthless and unpleasant insult of our players at the match against Zadar in the Kresimir Cosic Hall, and in the hope that we will not experience such scenes in the future, KK Split sent a protest notary commissioner to the Competition Favbet Premier League, which we publish in full:
Dear Mr. Perkovic,
After today’s ABA League match against BC Zadar, we are obliged to respond to the unacceptable behavior of part of the fans who have insulted our players with Antoni Jordan and Shannon Shorte during the match. Unfortunately, this is not an isolated incident – similar situations have already been recorded at the Cup in Zabok and during the finals last season. Today’s attacks included racist insults aimed at player Shorter, which we consider to be absolutely unacceptable and extremely shameful for any sporting event. Also, the family of our player Jordan was offended, including his wife, which further exceeds the limits of sports behavior and basic human decency. Given the seriousness of the situation, we officially seek this way:
– Additional intervention police protection in the zone around our bench,
– emptying a part of the panel right next to our bench or moving the fans of BC Zadar from the area.

Please note that this Sunday we play the Favbet Premier League match and express serious concerns about the safety of our players and professional staff. We believe that it is necessary for these measures to be implemented not only for the upcoming match, but also for all the potential finals of the championship matches, including possible finals. We believe that you share our concern and take all the necessary steps to ensure safe conditions for all competition participants and prevent further escalation. «
Lovro Mazalin was led by Zadar with 18 points and 13 rebounds, Vladimir Mihailovic and Marko Ramljak added 16 each, while Antonio Jordano scored 19 for Split.
