The future of the country is in the European Union and we are all working hard in order to achieve it, EU Ambassador Michalis Rokas said today in Veles, answering a journalist’s question to comment on messages that EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security sent during a visit to Skopje.

« The only thing, which I can say at this stage is actually just to repeat the EU Higher Kaya Calas, that is that Northern Macedonia and its future belong to the EU and we all work hard in order to achieve that goal so that the situation can be unblocked. »

Rokas declined to comment on President Gordana Siljanovska Davkova’s statement that Austria was ready for talks with us to find a creative solution to Bulgaria. The president said in an interview with Radio Free Europe that the Minister of European and International Affairs of the Republic of Austria, Beate Mainl-Reinzinger, would like talks on resolving the dispute to take place in Vienna.

-I would not like to comment on what the president, nor representatives of the member states said. At this point the only thing I can say is that there are a number of diplomatic activities and a number of visits and everything that comes from them is welcome to us – said Rokas.

The EU Ambassador regarding the agreement regarding the partnership for the realization of infrastructure projects, between the country and the UK, stressed that it is not on it to comment on the state agreements with third parties, and on the state of migration in the Balkans, he noted that the country has exceptional cooperation with the EU in that field.

-As for migrants it is a big issue for the whole EU. I can say that there is excellent cooperation between the EU and Northern Macedonia, there is also Frontex, which drown the first alarm, in the case of every migration. As for the UK, the EU has also signed a strategic partnership agreement at the same time, when your sign and your obvious Britain is a good EU partner and any agreement between Northern Macedonia and the UK is also good for you – Rokas said.
