Younger distrust social media and more and more
According to Duden, trust is the firm convincing of the reliability or reliability of a person or thing. Accordingly, the majority of citizens are firmly convinced that you can rely on the media in Germany. And this trust even grows again.
According to a representative survey by Infratest dimap on behalf of the WDR 61 percent of the respondents consider the information to be credible. That is five percentage points more than in the last survey in autumn 2023. Daily newspapers and public service offers cut particularly well.
Followers of AfD and BSW suspect the public law
46 percent of the respondents stated that they would obtain their information about the political events from daily newspapers. The newspapers lead this ranking, followed by public radio stations. While supporters of the CDU, SPD, the Greens and the left were mostly great confidence in the public law, gave supporters of AfD And the majority of BSW, whose information to trust little or not at all. There are also big differences between western and eastern Germany. The East Germans suspect the public service broadcasting significantly more.
Tikkok ends up in the last place in the event of credibility
And something else is remarkable: distrust of social media with a view to crises and elections or in questions of credibility or balance is pronounced. The Tikok platform ends up in the last place. The majority of the other social media are also considered to be credible.
This also applies to younger people: Although the 18- to 34-year-old social media state as their main source of information on political events, they do not trust it. Daily newspapers and public law offers also trust here.
