You never know when a missile may close your shop, by Etgar Keret – Liberation

Last Thursday, June 12, at 10 am, I learned that I was recipient of the ACUM Prix (1) for my entire work. « All of your work? You are not even 60 years old. Don’t you think it’s weird? «  My wife was surprised. « You may be right, I said, But let’s not talk too much, they could change their mind. ”

Seventeen hours later, wake up with the happy information of bombs on Natanz and missiles on Tel Aviv, the announcement of a price on the whole of my work before the age seemed to me a little less absurd. After all, you never know when a ballistic missile may close your shop. And here we are, my wife Shira and I, in the absence of a shelter, seated in the corridor of our apartment, listening to the echoes of the explosions and thinking of better days when, instead of waiting passively the missiles that will fall from the stratosphere, we knew how to organize quarrels for a veille: how to make the dishwasher work, how to educate our son and even to set up the air conditioner. And we regret the days when we end up making peace without « bibi » or Trump getting involved.

It is 5 a.m. and I’m sitting again on the corridor tiles. The noise of the explosion is particularly strong this time. Tomorrow, I am supposed to put a new column online on my newsletter. I wrote something about the first F
