You must never do this at a restaurant
When families with children go out to eat, it is often with snacks in the bag and patience in the baggage.
For the 21-year-old mother Karlie Smith from Ohio, a simple choice to pack food from home for his two-year-old son suddenly became the subject of fierce debate on social media.

In a video that quickly went viral on Tiktok, she shared an insight into the family’s routine when the trip goes to a restaurant.
She told me she brings a meal to the son because he has no patience to wait for serving – and because restaurant food is often expensive and less healthy.
In the video she says:
« Call me cheap, call me anything, but if we are going to a restaurant, I pack my child a meal. »
The meal brought was anything but controversial:
Peanut butter and jelly sandwich, banana nails, cheese teas and a chocolate bar. Still, the video got thousands of reactions and not everyone was positive.
Some users went as far as calling it abuse, which caused others to respond with calls for common sense and support. One of the most shared comments praised the idea of the words:
« My son is so picky and I always end up paying for something he doesn’t eat. »
Karlie Smith took the criticism with exalted tranquility and chose to respond again with humor in a subsequent video in which she cared for the excessive reactions by serving raw onions and canned beans as a restaurant food for her child.
In the midst of the exchange of opinion stands a mother who was just trying to make a dinner easier for both child and parents. While the web is discussing further, she chooses to hold on to what works at home.
