Years criticize the RCC decision on the secretization of assets

The National Integrity Agency considers that the decision of today’s RCC by which the unconstitutionality of some articles in the ANI is declared the public character of the statements of wealth and interests and can violate all the commitments made by Romania at international level in the last 20 years regarding the fight against corruption and ensuring the integrity in the public office.

At the same time, it considers ANI, such a decision can affect the process of accession to the OECD, the progress registered by Romania during the monitoring exercises at the European Union (the State Report) or the Council of Europe (the State Group against Corruption – GRECO).

Also, today’s RCC decision can lead to the annulment of the publication of the declarations of wealth and interests that the Agency maintains on its website, in relation to the argumentation of the Constitutional Court. The ANI portal today has over 12 million statements published on the basis of art. 6 para. (1) letter. d) and art. 12 para. (6), articles that have been declared unconstitutional today.

The Constitutional Court on Thursday decided that the statements of wealth and interests will no longer be published on the website of the National Integrity Agency, nor on the online pages of other public institutions, and these statements should no longer include the revenues and goods of the spouses and children.
