« X -ray of freedom » – a work for a more literally literate audience
« X -ray of Freedom » by Michaela Ilieva
« Jeanette 45 », 2023
Who can believe that with her debut book, Michaela Ilieva will be able to awaken so much Skiriti feelings and emotions in the reader? « X -ray of Freedom » captures twenty -seven stories, with each of them the leading topics being « freedom » and « fate » inS The amazing thing about these stories is that they look alike as they are different.
Ever since the first story, Pieta is visible to the author’s writing skills. Her ability to arrange the words in such a way that the reader himself enters the shoes of the main characters in each of the twenty -seven stories cannot be described in one word. A small part of the reasons for this book is extremely impactful.
A different collection of stories
Mihaela Ilieva manages to cover and merge the ideas of justice, freedom, past, future, injustice, hope and impasse with extreme agility. This duality of the topics affected in the text is even more clearly than the Daoist symbol « Yin and Yang ». No word has been made from literary -critic environments to synthesize the genre direction of the book.
The question of the grayness of everyday life, the existentialism that only needs a slight impetus to become nihilism, the sensuality that is closed in the human heart and cannot come out, the stagnation of personal development, and in some stories passing into degradation, is only a small part of the resemblance to the « X-ray « Metamorphosis ». |
Although this statement and comparison seems highly hyperbolized, anyone who has touched both works has felt in their chest the similarity between themselves and the main characters, a similarity that can be felt at the more Empathic people, and for the more neurotic even physiological.
Feminism, which is observed in the stories « Second Process », « Nica Girl », « Palimpsest » and more, is in tune with modern debates and cases around the woman or more politically correct – The Womanhood.
Michaela Ilieva manages to present the woman’s place back in historyas well as show the difficulties and obstacles that a lady meets in her daily life, as well as in more exclusive situations. Even the largest « macho » (used with the Spanish negative connotation) cannot be touched by these stories, especially when age is not relevant in the obstacles of the characters from the writer’s stories.
The long road to a novel. Neda Uzunkoleva who writes despite doubts
If we have to put on the glasses of criticism, we can use the phraseologism « a bit of a squeezed manja ». Probably in his desire to make an influential description of the hard, difficult and painful Michaela Ilieva creates at times slightly dystopian settings and situations, atmosphere, The reader will need to rest and wash away negative thoughts. The inevitability of suffering in the book is transferred to the reading of the reader, suffering that is difficult to bear even in the world of thoughts and imagination.
We do not know if the author is familiar with the work of Friederike Guyviner, who receives Austria’s state literary award for her debut novel « Sad Freedom », but definitely the similarities in the author’s style and in the atmosphere of the two works are extremely interesting – two Authens, two great debuts, two themes.
For the final, « X-ray of Freedom » is an exceptional work designed for a more emotionally literate audience. This is not a recreation book after a hard day to work or for the beach sun lounger to the fat with a refreshing cocktail and whiteness cards. This book makes you make up your priorities and dreams, thank you for the things you have and the things you have enjoyed. If you love your personal experiences to resonate with the characters in the works, to release a salt drop of your eyes and to think for a long time about the works you read, then this is a book you must read.
