The name of the winner was announced by the State Agency of Ukraine for Arts and Art Education on Gonchar’s Birthday, April 3.

« Where the sun goes down » is a novel about the elderly home. The main character of Viri is 72, and she finds herself there because her son is engaged in volunteering in the war. The book reveals the topic of old age in Ukrainian society and the process of adopting aging.

Where the sun goes down « Helen Wheat is a bold text. Bold not only because for the first time they wrote a novel in Ukrainian, inhabited mainly by elderly people, which means – a novel with extremely unusual optics and a set of questions that are usually not taken to sound« , – wrote about the novel by a bookserist UP. The Oles Honchar Prize is awarded annually for the best literary works that affirm the ideals of humanism, the spiritual values ​​of the Ukrainian people, the ideas of Ukraine’s independence.
