Wrexham, owned by Hollywood actors, advanced to the 2nd English League
BRATISLAVA. Canadian actor Ryan Reynolds admitted that he remembers the moment when his Hollywood colleague Rob Mcelhenney presented the idea of buying a Wrexham football club.
He had an idea for a documentary film, with the aim to get to the Premier League. At first glance it was something that could be described as an impossible dream.
Four years after buying a club from North Wales, however, Wrexham is only one competition from its big goal. On Saturday after winning 3: 0 over Charlton Athletic, he advanced a record third in a row.
« It seemed like an impossible dream, but it is happening and we are lucky to be the story of this story, » Reynolds said, known mainly because of the role of the DEADPOOL superhero, after the Sky Sports match.
« Four years ago we stood here, made a press and said that our goal is the Premier League. At that time we heard a lot of giggling, but it starts to act as a real, tangible thing that could be fulfilled, » he added.
The red dragons will play in Championship next season, which was still unthinkable in 2021. « I know, but we will only think about the Premier League tomorrow. Today we are enjoying this moment, » McLenney said.
« Do we have to wait until tomorrow? » He said with a smile of Reynolds, who even draft a beer to a fan before the match with Charlton.
Wrexham’s popularity on both sides of the Atlantic has increased sharply thanks to the new owners, as well as the documentary film « Welcome to Wrexham ».
While many sports teams have the absent famous owners, Reynolds and McElhenney are everything but not absent.
Reynolds, whose wife and acting colleague Blake Lively was also on Saturday’s match, told reporters in New York at the beginning of the week that it was a stress like an eight -centimeter ulcer in his stomach.
