World star Dua Lipa promotes Antwerp bookstore on Instagram: « They sell books that encourage thought » (Antwerp)
The British-Albanese singer and actress Dua Lipa has named De Groene Waterman as ‘Bookstore of the Month’. The coordinator of the Antwerp bookstore Katrien Merckx responds happily and surprised. « This gives us fame with a new audience. »
Via her personal platform @Service95Bookclub Dua Lipa regularly puts a bookstore in the spotlight on Instagram. This month, the De Groene Waterman bookstore is in Antwerpse Wolstraat, which is picking up with the appreciation of the world -famous star.
« It is a pleasant place in Antwerp that has been selling alternative reading and magazines for almost six decades. That means that the people of this bookstore really know what they are talking about. As a cooperative they offer books that incite to think, ideas and conversation, » writes Dua Lipa.
« This is really a pleasant surprise, » says Katrien Merckx of De Groene Waterman. « We know that an employee of Dua Lipa was in our bookstore a few weeks ago. Probably he promoted us at Dua Lipa. She has not been here as far as we know. But perhaps that will change. After all, she will soon perform in Antwerp. »

Dua Lipa has been promoting local affairs more often on her personal lifestyle and culture platform since February 2022. In Antwerp her eye has fallen on our bookstore. In any case, it is a great honor that this singer and actress pays attention to the Groene Waterman, » continues Katrien Mercckx.
