Many world politicians have paid tribute to Pope Francis after news was announced that the Supreme Head of the Roman Catholic Church died in the morning, stressing that he managed to inspire millions of people even outside of Catholicism.

French President Emmanuel Macron also expressed deep respect for the Pope, noting that during his pontification he was always with the most vulnerable and weakest members of society.

« In times of war and brutality, he had a sense of others, for the weakest, » Macron said, adding that Pope Francis, from Buenos Aires to Rome, wanted the Church to bring joy and hope to the poorest.

Germany’s likely future Chancellor Friedrich Mertz said Pope Francis would be remembered after his tireless advocacy for the most vulnerable members of society.

« He was guided by modesty and faith in God’s mercy, » Merz wrote to X.

Dutch Prime Minister SEC SHOF described Pope Francis as a « man of the people » who, with his simple life, service and compassion, became an example for many, both for Catholics and those who do not have Catholic faith.

« The light of the Catholic community bid farewell to the leader who recognized the serious problems of our time and drew attention to them, » SHOF said.

Israeli President Isaac Herzog has sent a message highlighting deep faith and compassion for Pope Francis.

– He devoted his life to helping the poor and called for peace in the world in which conflicts rule. I hope his prayers for peace in the Middle East and the safe return of hostages to Gaza will soon be fulfilled – Herzog reported.

A few hours ago, the Vatican reported that Pope Francis died at the age of 88.
