The net professional income of the working Flemish between 20 and 64 years in 2024 amounted to an average of 2,870 euros per month. Between 2006 and 2024, the net real professional income rose by 10 percent. That is on average 0.5 percent per year, according to figures from Statistics Flanders on Wednesday.
For the sake of clarity: because the figures were calculated on the basis of the EU-SILC survey of 2024, the figures relate to the income of the previous year, 2023.
In 2024, significantly more people had a higher real professional income than in 2006. Four in 10 workers aged 20 to 64 had a professional income of more than 3,000 euros per month in 2024. In 2006 that was the case at more than a quarter (27 percent).
In less than a quarter (22 percent) of the workers aged 20 to 64, the professional income in 2024 amounted to less than 2,000 euros per month. In 2006 that share was still significantly higher, then almost a third of the workers (30 percent) had a monthly professional income under 2,000 euros.
The average professional income of working men was 3,092 euros in 2024. That is 3 percent higher than in 2006. For working women, the professional income increased much stronger (+24 percent): from an average of 2,118 euros in 2006 to 2,629 euros in 2024.
There are major differences between the professional income according to education level. In 2024, the net professional income of highly skilled people was on average at 3,184 euros per month. For central skills it was 2,511 euros per month and for low -skilled 2,071 euros.
