Wood. Albuquerque takes office and guarantees budget until summer

The President of the Madeira Regional Government considered on Tuesday that the Madeirans manifested in the elections that they want an executive who guarantees « stability ». Miguel Albuquerque defended Union in a democratic diversity to achieve the main objectives of the autonomous region.

« The Madeirans and Porto-Santa demonstrated at the polls, on March 23, the path they want to follow, » said the Madeiran Executive Chief since 2015, at the inauguration ceremony of the new XVI PSD/CDS-PP Regional Government, before the Madeira Legislative Assembly.

According to Albuquerque, who was sworn in as president of his fifth government, in the last suffrage the Madeiras showed that “they want peace and progress,” “a picture of civilized dialogue between political and social actors” and a government that “guarantees stability, development and responsibility”.

The President of the Regional Government of Madeira added that the population also “expects a government capable of realizing, in the national framework, the fair autonomist aspirations”, through the revision of the “regional finance law” and the deepening of political autonomy in the next constitutional revision.

In their view, everyone must be “united in the pursuit of common goals”, pointing out that “democratic freedom, freedom and diversity does not prevent the effort of political and social union in the realization of the summit interests of the region and the population”.

« We can not waste more time, » said the ruler, highlighting the importance of approving the government program and the regional budget « before summer ».

The chief executive argued that « only a government in full functions, with an approved budget and a four -year legislature horizon, is able to comply with the suffocated program, stimulate entrepreneurship and companies, set new investments in the region, ensure public investment and improve education, health and social support services. »

Addressing to the Minister of State and Foreign Affairs, Paulo Rangel, who was present at the ceremony, Miguel Albuquerque highlighted this “gesture of consideration and appreciation of the national government”, considering that it is a “reaffirmation of cooperation” between the two executives to resolve the pending dossiers between the Republic and the region.

« I am sure that the commitments made by the Prime Minister to the region will remain unchanged for the sake of a more cohesive and more supportive country, » he said, quoted by Lusa.
