Womenicide in Poland. The criminologist reveals terrifying details
Małgorzata († 53 years old), an employee of the University of Warsaw. Maja († 16 years old), a teenager from Mława. These terrible crimes are barely several days and over 130 km of distance. They are not the only one at that time. Not all the media write widely about all.
Mława, Warsaw. Crimes with particular cruelty. Do you talk about it?
End of April. The murder of 16-year-old Maja from Mława. The girl was to be tortured before her death. Attached to a tree, poured with acid. Suspected of this cruel crime, a 16-year-old friend, Bartosz G. (17 years old) is still in Greece. I went there to school Erasmus.
Wednesday evening, May 7, in the center of Warsaw. There is a monstrous crime on the UW campus. Armed with an ax Mieszko R. (22 years old) brutally kills Mrs. Małgorzata, a university employee. This is a random victim.
These crimes, as indicated in an interview with « Wprost » dr hab. Magdalena Grzyb, Modus Operandi. In the case of Mława, it was, as the criminologist pointed out, it’s hard to talk about affect.
The perpetrator had to feed some great hatred towards his victim, have special inclinations to sadism, be under the influence of intoxicants or did not act alone, because it looks like a fairly planned crime
– the interlocutor of « Wprost » pointed out.
As Dr. hab. Magdalena Grzyb, Bartosz G. on the Internet found a group of his defenders. Among them, which is probably not surprising, is his mother. There are words about the fact that « words kill » (in the context of the fact that Maj was to hate Bartosz G.) and the 16-year-old « she got what she deserved », « she won’t hurt anyone anymore ».
Suspect from a bestial attack on a university campus, according to a criminologist, « could be insane, i.e. he had mental disorders, some psychosis. »
Overwhelming. A woman always guilty?
Dr hab. Magdalena Grzyb in « Wprost » emphasized that it is impossible to « romanticize violence and present the perpetrator as someone you should pity. »
People are looking for the answer to the answer to the question « Why is she? » Because they want to calm down that this will not happen to them? We are not able to cognitively the circumstances in which someone inflicts huge suffering and is capable of such cruelty « for nothing ». This is the so -called The myth of the « just world », with which we want to maintain balance. He tells us to believe that each harm has its cause in behavior of the injured party
– explained the criminologist.
Then there is thinking that « good girls do not happen to bad things. » And if this happens, it means that they had to contribute to this. As the interlocutor of « Wprost » in one survey, more than half of Poles decided that a woman who is a victim of violence, « knows what she is packing, exaggerating or provoking violence. »
Does violence have gender?
Men prefer to say: « violence has no sex ». And they immediately show evidence: a link to the article in which a woman … hit a man with a pan. Remember, if a man strikes a woman, his strength is twice as strong
– a criminologist from the Jagiellonian University in an interview with the journalist of « Wprostu ».
Crimes with particular cruelty. Should society know?
In an interview with a court expert, I hear about a disturbing phenomenon when describing brutal crimes in the media can cause more similar tragedies and thus stimulate imitates. Therefore, the question arises about whether society should know about them?
By criminologists and other social researchers, the phenomenon of inspiring the crimes described in literature or the media and the desire to imitate the perpetrators is well described. In this respect, there is in fact such a risk. It happens that the criminal is even becoming an idol for some population subgraly, as it happened in the case of Roger Elliot, who killed 6 people in 2014 and became the « king of income ». On the other hand, society also has the right to know when drastic crimes occur. Let me just remind you that not informing a society with a prowling serial killer Andriej was waiting by law enforcement agencies in the USSR in the 1970s and 80s.
– explained in an interview with the journalist of « Wprost » dr hab. Magdalena Grzyb.
