Woman died after frontal collision on the regional road in Lebbeke, child in danger (inland)
A woman died on Thursday afternoon at a frontal collision with a truck on the N41 in Lebbeke, on the border with Dendermonde. The child who sat with her was brought to the hospital in critical condition. The truck driver was in shock after the blow.
On the N41 in Lebbeke, on the border with Dendermonde, a very serious accident happened on Thursday around 4.30 pm. A woman who drove her car in the direction of Lebbeke for unclear reasons from her lane and collided head -on with a charged truck.
Bend
The accident happened in a place where it is not allowed to be caught up, in a slight bend on one of the highest points of the regional road. The two people in the car were pinched. The child was taken out of the car by people who saw the accident happening and were in cars behind the truck. They started on the spot with the resuscitation until the emergency services arrived and took over. There was no longer any help for the driver.
After the blow, not much left of the passenger car. The impact on the vehicle was huge. The young victim who was in the vehicle was brought to the hospital in a critical condition. The trucker was also taken to the hospital in shock, but was not injured.
Regional road closed for hours
Seven years ago a fatal accident on the N41 also happened a few hundred meters further. Lebbeeks Mayor Jan Vanderstraeten (CD&V) arrived on the spot and responds to the accident. « With the road infrastructure, there was no problems at the first time, » it sounded. « We are waiting for the traffic expert's investigation. »
The regional road was closed for hours for all traffic, resulting in long traffic jams in Lebbeke and Dendermonde on all other roads. The public prosecutor sent a traffic expert on site.
