Woman (70) Seriously injured after frontal collision: « She suddenly got rid of lane » (Zuienkerke)
A 70-year-old woman was seriously injured on Wednesday afternoon in a frontal collision along the Oostendse Steenweg in Houtave (Zuienkerke). The victim deviated from her lane and drove in on another car. The fire brigade had to free the lady from the wreck. « She is not in danger, » said the police.
The accident happened on Tuesday shortly after 1 p.m. on the Oostendse Steenweg in Houtave, a part of Zuienkerke. Local residents suddenly heard a loud blow at house number 77. A small passenger car that drove in the direction of Bruges had suddenly deviated from the lane in a slight bend. The 70-year-old driver drove head-on on another passenger car, resulting in a huge havoc.

Not criticism
The police immediately closed the Oostendse Steenweg in both directions. Two ambulances, the mosquito and the fire brigade also arrived. « We had to free one victim who was trapped in her car, » says the assistance zone I. « Her condition is serious, but not criticism. »
That is confirmed by the local police. « The 70-year-old woman was taken to the AZ Sint-Jan with serious injuries. The driver of the other car, a 28-year-old man, is less bad. He goes to the hospital as a precaution. »

According to witnesses, it was not clear why the woman suddenly ended up on the other. The police made the necessary findings on the spot and then had both vehicles, which were badly damaged, hoist. The fire brigade ensured that the roadway was completely released. When all the debris were cleared, the traffic could go through again.
