« Wolves », in the Bestiary of time – Liberation

In the history of the Château de Saint-Alban (Lozère), there is extraordinary. Not only, transformed into asylum then into a psychiatric hospital, it was one of the high places of the development of new psychotherapy, called institutional, from 1940, under the impulse of the Spanish psychiatrist in exile François Tosquelles, where patients, rather than being locked up, participated in collective life … But also, in the 18th century, A mythical and real beast (or more) prowled in the forests of the surrounding Gévaudan and killed the children: to arrest him, hunts were organized from the castle …

Discovering that the madmen of the first extraordinary story played each year, at the hospital club, a play inspired by the second – the hunt for the beast -, the filmmaker Isabelle Prim (author of hybrid fictions like Red and black And THE Affair) shot wolves. Either the fellow reconstruction of these stories which are replayed with each other, by the band, to several bands, packs or troops: with among others the animals of scenes Raphaël Thiéry, Charlotte Clamens, Marc Susini, and even Silvia Lippi – The feminist psychoanalyst co -thewife of the manifesto of the manifesto Sisters, Who plays here the role of Tosquelles, or rather a parallel version of the great man rewritten by the sound of his high heels on the boards. Mounted with odds and ends (collage) and broc (haunted), as a film is made (by addition and subtraction of material) or a piece (by multiplication of lines), wolves is the spectacle of a thought, that of a cine-monster, legendary and familiar like the beast, and which can accommodate, in its inventive form, a little the all-Garou that comes out of the ordinary towards the woods …
