Austria’s best tennis player has the momentum on his side in Roland Garros.
Paris. After his six -month injury break, Sebastian Ofner is currently touring the tennis world with « Protected Ranking », and that is quite successful. Most recently, Austria’s best players currently did without this special status, successfully fought through the qualification and reached a third round (Masters in Rome) and a semi -finals (250 in Geneva). From Monday, the 29-year-old, now number 108 in the world rankings, will open for the fourth time in the main competition of the French Open.
In Roland Garros, Ofner also achieved his best Grand slam result with the round of 16 2023. During the opening match against Jan-Lennard Struff (ATP 87) it is easy to favor, even if he explained despite a negative series of Struff (a win in ten tournaments won): « For me this is a 50:50 game. »
Including Paris, the Styrian still has eight tournaments in which he will compete with « protected ranking ». His main goal is to qualify for the Australian Open main competition at the end of the year thanks to the world rankings. If he remains unharmed, OFNER is on the best course.
