Will offer in Isafjordur flights
Icelandair is likely to continue flights to Ísafjörður after the company’s contract expires next year. This can be read from the words of Boga Nils Bogason, CEO of Icelandair.
Morgunbladid inquired about the company’s future plans after Icelandair had the lowest bid for the operation of scheduled flights between Reykjavik and Hafnar in Hornafjörður for the next three years.
Bogi says that, as previously announced, it was time to take Icelandair’s Dash 200 aircraft out after the summer of 2026.
Conversations with stakeholders
« But these machines are well suited for the Isafjardur flight and we will, at first, use them to port if that deal becomes a reality. The port airline alone will not make it the Dash 200 aircraft to continue with us, » says Bogi.
He also says that Icelandair is interested in continuing flights to Ísafjörður, although there is still no evidence of how to fly there.
« We have been in conversation with stakeholders in terms of Isafjordur and there is some likelihood that it will be invited. We will of course participate in that auction too. »
