Will follow a difficult time
The elected president, Nicușor Dan, claimed on Monday that he would be ‘ideal’ like PSD, PNL, USR, UDMR and the parliamentary group of national minorities to form a stable government.
He stated, for B1 TV, that he met during the afternoon with the interim president Ilie Bolojan, with whom he discussed ‘extremely’ about the budget deficit, a subject of common ‘concern’.
‘I met Mr. Bolojan. Now I come from him. I saw myself last night with Dominic Fritz, he came to the campaign headquarters. I have not called Mr. Kelemen Hunor yet, but I will call him tonight, because it was a very impressive mobilization of the ethnic Hungarians and the UDMR contributed a lot to it. We are waiting to see what is happening in the PSD, because we all know that there are some tensions there. (…) Ideally, all four, plus minorities, make a government, so that we have a stable government, « said the president elected.
Nicușor Dan added that Ilie Bolojan represents his option for the position of prime minister, but he does not promise that this will be achieved, because there are ‘many entities, each with the aspirations, with their proposals’ for this function.
‘It’s an ongoing discussion. Each of the people has some expectations, some conditions and all this must be harmonized, « he explained.
The president elected estimated that he will follow for « at least a few months » an economic period, because Romania has thrown money « for at least three years, and now this situation must be corrected.
Nicușor Dan mentioned that in about a week he will provide more information on how this economic situation can be overcome.
The problems that must be addressed as a priority are the budget deficit, the complicated geo-political context and the formation of the government, he reiterated.
‘In the short term we have the deficit – a very serious problem. We are in a complicated geo-political context, with a border war, with a European effort … Romania must harmonize with the European states on all security issues, including the re-monitoring program. Third thing – Government formation. And the first and third thing are interconnected. I would not like to be a president who says, ‘Here is a prime minister and from here do you!’ I would like to cut the money and how we solve this problem to be my responsibility, « stressed the president.
Nicușor Dan promised that, as president, he will support the ‘reform’ of the Romanian state, so that he serves the needs of the citizens, not ‘various interest groups’.
