« Will enter the second round of the first place »
PSD president, Marcel Ciolacu, said on Tuesday that, in the electoral competition, the candidate of the ‘Romania, before!’, Crin Antonescu, will enter the second round of the first place.
He thus answered a question that aimed at the eventual resignation of the PSD president in the case of Antonescu’s failure at Sunday’s elections.
‘Always when there are elections, that they are local, that they are MEP, that they are for the position of president, the president and only the PSD president is asked what he does or does not win or if he does not win the party or if another has more county councils. I officially announce you. Mr. Crin Antonescu will enter the second round of the first place. And it will not be the case, « said Ciolacu, after the meeting of the PSD National Political Council.
Asked if the election of Crin Antonescu as President of Romania is the last chance for Marcel Ciolacu to remain prime minister after elections, the PSD president said: ‘No. It is the last chance that Romania will continue to remain in a stable area both economically and politically. It is our last chance, of Romanians and yours, that you are younger than me, to have a future in Romania ‘.
He said that Antonescu’s performance since the Electoral Debate on Monday evening was appreciated by the members of the National Political Council.
‘There were three interventions on this topic, everyone was delighted by the performance of Mr. Crin Antonescu. It was normal, ‘Ciolacu pointed out.
In other news, Marcel Ciolacu said that he does not remember the choice not to participate in the presidential debate from last year, mentioning that it will be seen ‘in the vote of the Romanians’ if some of the candidates will be absent from the debates organized for these elections. Well nobody participated. Was it a debate last year? I don’t remember, I apologize, « Ciolacu said.
At the same time, the PSD president was declared satisfied with the way in which ‘mobilization in the territory’, stressing that ‘Voting Day is Sunday, on the 4th and mentioned that he appealed to his colleagues’ not to take any challenge’.
‘I had a meeting with my colleagues, a normal national political council before the day of vote, mobilization and put all the details, the latest details. (…) I appealed to my colleagues not to respond and not take any challenge. We are in the election campaign, it is part of the electoral game for certain candidates to say untrue things, « said Ciolacu, referring to the fact that Victor Ponta would have stated that more than half of the PSD mayors would be with it. »
