Wild gold celebration: « Happiest day of my life »

The arena in Luleå was packed, just over 6,000 spectators, when Luleå secured the SM gold after 5-2 against Brynäs. And most of course carried red Luleå shirts.

On many supporters’ scarves it said « We do it together ». And when the supporters were let in on the ice for a while after the final signal, after the players were finished with each other and got their gold helmets, it was obvious that all players and supporters invited each other to hugs.

The ice was filled The burst limit with supporters.

-It’s totally sick, says a male Luleå supporter to TV4.

– Finally it is at home, says another that the gold is back in Norrbotten after 29 years.

– I’ve been shaking. This is the happiest day of my life. Nothing can top this, says a female supporter.

Luleå’s team captain Erik Gustafsson to TV4:

– Total happiness. Completely insane. We have been fighting for this so damn long and I didn’t know if it would come to a reality or not. The covid season felt like they twisted it away from us and then we stumbled on the goal line against Färjestad three years ago.

– Being able to turn on the steak like this, when no one has really believed in us throughout the year, is so damn sick. And I think it’s so well deserved too.
