Why we sit up in dubious offers
Fast successes, attractive certificates and full -bodied promises: So that self -proclaimed coaches, gurus and mentors – especially in social networks. They promise us exactly what we want the most – provided we invest a lot of money in a supposedly unique method
In the end, there is usually only one thing left for those affected: disappointment. Because the goals set are usually not achieved, but a lot of money is lost. The psychologist Bianca Liebrand from the sect Info North Rhine-Westphalia explains in an interview how this can happen-and how we better protect ourselves for the future.
Which dubious offers are we particularly receptive to?
Bianca Liebrand: Often there are offers that promise us supposedly quick solutions for problems that have been accompanying us for a long time – for example because we are dissatisfied in the partnership, want to develop ourselves professionally or better to be rich today than tomorrow. Then coaches and trainers come to us at social media, newspaper advertisements or contacts that know how to euphorize us.
Then why don’t we react more clearly – it often smells of dizzying?
Bianca Liebrand: If we are humans in life crises and do not progress with our previous coping therapies, we are simply easily receptive to supposedly quick solutions that come to us at a very low -threshold level.
Professionals know how to make such living situations skillfully. They smear a honey around your mouth and let you believe that you can only create something very big together. In addition, they often put pressure on time and cope with us that this seemingly unique chance is wasted if you do not access immediately.
Anyone who has bitten once and later get the feeling that things do not develop or do not develop quickly enough in the right direction, then the failure usually refers. Apparently it cannot be due to the coach, as much money as he could earn with his method. This reversal of guilt keeps us in the bar.
What can we do better in the future if we don’t want to sit on such offers?
Bianca Liebrand: We should keep a critical look and become skeptical if we are offered quick solutions for complex problems. As a rule, there are no.
Even if you are suggested to quickly complete any contracts and explicitly not to exchange ideas with your social environment, it is said to be careful. Talk to it with confidants or contact independent advice centers.
If you have already been on a dubious offer, do not be ashamed of it and do not hesitate to entrust yourself to someone. Anyone can sit up with fraud or a dubious coaching offer – this has nothing to do with intelligence.
