Why the real film of the cartoon « Lilo & Stitch » is a great family film
Disney simply cannot let it go: since the 1990s and enhancements the billion-dollar entertainment group has been providing the cinema audience with remakes of its cartoons, in which not only computer-animated animals, but also take real people from flesh and blood. But the real films rarely come to the charm of the originals, which recently made “Snow White” more than clear.
The « Snow White » remake not only fell through the critics: the filmmar with Rachel Zegler and Gal Gadot is also financially a failure. With “Lilo & Stitch”, Disney now serves the next new edition two months after “Snow White”, which is so far from the template that changes are not difficult. But is the film otherwise convincing?
With heart and humor
The history largely corresponds to that of the original: the scientist Dr. Jumba Joookiba (Zach Galifianakis) has to answer to the intergalactic council. His experiment with number 626 (voice: Chris Sanders), a blue alien, is classified as dangerous and is to be eliminated. But that fails, the being flees, puts a crash landing on a Hawaiian island and finally ends up in an animal shelter.
There, Lilo (Maia Kealoha), a lonely and over -the -top six -year -olds, becomes aware of the strange animal, quickly closes it into the heart, adopts the « blue dog » without further ado and baptizes it. So far, so perfect. But the new friendship stands a lot or rather some stand in the way.
Rarely could a CGI character be able to move into the heart so quickly.
On the one hand, Lilos older sister Nani (Sydney Elizebeth Agudong), who struggles to bring the sibling duo through life and possibly lose custody for the little one. Then Cobra Bubbles (Courtney B. Vance), a federal agent who is targeting the alien, and a chaotic duo from space that is supposed to capture Stitch again.
Lacher, Aahs and Oohs
Especially the Alienduo, consisting of Jumba Joookiba and Agent Pleakley (Billy Magnussen), also ensure laughter in « Lilo & Stitch » among the parents of little cinema. The kids, on the other hand, can enjoy Stitch and his human girlfriend Lilo, who are believing without inhibitions, drilling and even farting in the nose; So do everything that is prohibited by most children.

And if you don’t laugh or look at the side in the cinema, you can look at Stitch that acts as an animated figure in addition to the performers made of flesh and blood as an animated figure. Rarely could a CGI character be able to move into the heart so quickly. And yet there is a drop of bitterness: in addition to real people, the computer -generated beings still seem a little out of place. No comparison to « Who Framed Roger Rabbit » times of course … and yet there is something that doesn’t seem to fit.
The morality of the story ‘
As with the original, the real film adaptation of « Lilo & Stitch » takes up topics that appear as current in 2025 in the USA as in 2002 and rarely in this genre: It is about people who keep afraid of water with poorly paid jobs, for whom a visit to the doctor can mean the financial bankruptcy. It is also about families who are torn apart and have to fight for a living.
A blue alien and Tom Cruise fight for the favor of the audience
Last but not least, « Lilo & Stitch » is also a film about friendships that arise in an unusual way. And a film about families that soften the limits of the term. The times when you can only call father-mother-child constellations as such are more than ever a passé … and far from any queer forms.
