They did it very well, » said the Strassener coach after his team on Saturday in the Final series against Volley Bartringen had crowned the master for the fifth time in a row. It was the 19th championship title for a team of men from the club. Strassen is now a record champion in Luxembourg (before 18 times the master Cal/Clausen). The fourth double in a row can also celebrate the team. At the beginning of March she got the cup title.

In view of this balance, the new triumph could work like routine. But he wasn’t. « We doubted ourselves all season more than that was otherwise the case. Therefore, it was the title that was hardest, » said player Gilles Braas. « He was much more emotional than the years before. »

In fact, the series winners, who used to be almost unbeatable, had lost their nimbus in the season just ended. Twice they lost barren in the regular season. The competitor moved into play-off as the league leader. In the final series, the two teams faced each other for the fourth time in a row. But this time among other signs. Street was no longer favorite as the second, the opponent had home rights.

Bartringen had such a strong team together than for a long time. The long -awaited title, the first since 2002, also seemed as close as it has not long. Until streets the first final in Center Atert 3: 0 dominated at the end of April. When the defending champion wanted to make everything clear in his own hall, the challenger provided 3-2 for the intermediate turn. But in the end it went quite quickly. In the third and decisive final game in front of around 400 spectators in Center Aert in three sets (25:20, 25:21, 25:13), streets prevailed unexpectedly clearly. The whole game only lasted an hour and 16 minutes.

The defeat of the previous week, when streets had surprisingly gave the game out of hand after two sentences won, was probably one of the reasons that the team triumphed so much in the decision -making game. « It did a lot in the mind, » said Braas. A lot has been spoken in the past few days.

Basically, the streets are not as natural as they look from the outside. « It is very, very hard work behind it. There is no break with us. Nobody goes on vacation. We had many low points this season, from which we worked out again and again as a team, » said Braas. According to the national player, experience has made the decisive factor in favor of streets, although he had seen the opponent in the favorite role. « I think Bartringen had the better team on paper, » he said.

It was not a consolation for Steve Weber. The Bartringer captain experienced his fourth final series against streets in a row and every time his team was only runner -up. « In the two elements you need against streets, the serve and the block, it was not enough. Both were underground today, » he said self -critically.

In the end, it was new that the Bartringer in the Best-of-Three series could compensate for in the meantime. « We know that we can do it. But apparently we can’t always call it up. Unfortunately, we don’t know how to win in these situations, unfortunately we have not yet said, » said Weber. He will switch to beach volleyball in the next few weeks and compete in this discipline at the games of the small countries in Europe. In the coming season he would like to take a new attempt in the hall.

The experienced Braas will also continue his career for competitors streets. Nevertheless, changes from the master can be expected after the team has been constant for years. The future is open to some players. « We have a few wobbly candidates and have to clarify in the next few weeks who is still on board, » said Tarantini. This also applies to him. The success coach has been in streets since 2018. Whether he will continue depends on the future composition of the team. Tarantini takes time to make a decision: « It takes a little more. »
