Why is it important to have it and how to prepare properly?
According to Donatas Gurevičius, Advisor to the Fire and Rescue Department (PAGD), the preparation for emergencies is the responsibility of each of us: « We always emphasize that it is important for residents to be prepared for at least three days, ie 72 hours.
What should the departure bag be like?
The most important rule is that the bag should not only be completed but also comfortable to carry. According to D. Gurevicius, the most practical to use a backpack rather than a simple bag or suitcase. The content of the departure bag depends on the person's needs. It is worth having: clothes and footwear suitable for season; water for three days (at least 4 liters per day for a person to drink and hygiene); food (dry ration, canned food, nuts, dried fruits, etc.); Identity documents and copies of them in a waterproof case; sleeping bag; cash; first aid kit and necessary medicines; radio receiver operating with batteries; flashlight, external battery to charge the phone; pen, notebook with important addresses and phone numbers.
It is important to view the content of the departure bag at least twice a year. It is also important to agree in the family who will be responsible for taking these important items in the event of evacuation. More information about the departure bag and the preparation for emergencies can be found in Lithuania's preparations for emergencies on the website LT72.lt, and from now on the EU funds created in the mobile app LT72. In the event of an internet connection, the data on the smart device is saved and updated each time. The last data is later displayed even without an internet connection.
Education of the population
The PAGD advisor is pleased that active education has been conducted in recent years to introduce residents to the principles of civil protection and the most important preparations for emergency situations.
« Over the past year, together with the Ministry of the Interior, the Conference of Lithuanian Bishops, the Union of Lithuanian Local Community Organizations, Third Age universities, municipalities, other institutions and organizations, we have initiated and organized information campaigns, civil protection events for students, local communities and other residents, » says D. Gurevicius. Cross (LRK).
Where to hide during the emergency?
If there is a risk of air, it is necessary to find the safest place. If you have time, find the nearest shelter marked with a special sign. Such locations are listed on the LT72 map, which can now be found in the LT72 mobile app. If there is no way to reach the cover, other ways of protection must be sought.

“If something happens then I will decide”
According to Vytautė Stankevičienė, Head of Crisis and Emergency Management Management Manager, although the awareness of the population is gradually increasing, many people are still not seriously thinking about a departure bag or action plan: « Often think, if something happens.
V. Stankevičienė emphasizes that it is important to have not only a bag with essential items, but also a clear plan of action. The changes in the seasons need to be taken into account: more warm clothes will be needed in winter and sunscreen in the summer. If you have children, pets or people with special needs, you also need to think about them. It is important to discuss the evacuation plan with loved ones in advance to prevent panic.
First aid skills – necessary
First aid measures can be vital. If you are taking medicines for chronic diseases, their stock for several days is required. « There should be measures from pain, inflammation, digestive disorders, allergies. If evacuation was in cold weather, it is important to have a first aid blanket that would protect against the cold, » said Stankeviciene.
It is not enough to have a first aid kit alone – it is important to be able to use it properly. Unfortunately, according to the specialist, the situation of first aid skills in Lithuania does notideal: « Only about 15 % of people have learned to provide first aid in recent years, but how many of them actually dare to act in a critical situation, another issue. »
Both experts emphasize that preparation for disasters is not a panic, but a responsible attitude to the safety of their own and that of their loved ones. The more we think about it now, the calmer we will feel in the event of an emergency.
