Klaipeda Lyceum is a private school whose students have been leaders of the country and international Olympiads since 2013, and the knowledge of graduates of this school ranks first among all Lithuanian gymnasiums according to academic results.

Seeing the need for Klaipeda residents to give their children a valuable education, Regina Kontautienė, a leader of the Lyceum, started planning the construction of a school unit near the monastery with the Franciscans.

The joint project with the monastery has provided many different activities.

« It has been a naturally born project. For more than a decade we have been cooperating with the monastery, our whole community is involved in the Hope Run, we have done various social initiatives, and our children volunteer there at work with autistic children. There were very nice plans. In strengthening spiritual education, the monastery could also have benefits in the community of believers, as our school pays great attention to the development of spirituality. With the Church, we start the school year by blessing our freshmen, and end the year with the church. There is usually a celebration of certificates, ”said the head of Klaipeda Lyceum about the long communication with the Franciscans.

This year, the celebration of the last call of Klaipeda Lyceum was no longer held at St. Francis Assisi, and St. At Casimir’s Church. The graduates here were also blessed before exams.

Refused to continue the project

« We were planning to build our school at the monastery, but this plan collapsed. We had signed a protocol of intent, but as the monastery management changed, we received a notice that the contract was terminated. The vision was very beautiful.

Asked if he had spoken to the collapse of the co -plans with his brother Benedict, Mr Kontautienė said he could not answer the question either.

« One can only guess, but I would not appreciate the processes inside there. It was not just a decision of the community of this monastery, because the contracts were coordinated, with Evaldas Darulis, a Franciscan Order. We even received a visualization with its approval.

There were no contracts with contractors, only the minutes of the intention, the consciousness.

Decided by the province of the monastery

The new Order of the Order of the Little Brothers of Lithuania, the Head of the Monastery of the Šventoji Franciscan Assisi orgas, Andrius Nenėnas of Klaipėda Šventoji Province of Lithuania, assured that the decision to prevent the construction of a new school on a city was not personally made by him, but by the province of all monastery.

Asked whether the decision to refuse to build a landlord on the land of the Lycese monastery came from Vilnius, he said he was authorized to sign a decision as a person in place.

« The decision to refuse the Lyceum’s plans came not from Vilnius. We, as a monastery, have our own larger unit – the province of St. Saint Casimir, which all monasteries subordinate. The provincial leadership made such a decision, and as an authorized person directly the local manager Our monastery did not participate in the higher courts, which should have been aware of the hardens there.

To ask the head of the province, Mr Darulis, whether the monastery manager really knew nothing about the Franciscan plans in the port city towards the Lyceum.

A. Nenėnas stated that he did not represent himself but the monastery. The land is already mined

Asked whether there were already specific plans to use the free land received from the state, the monastery manager, A. Nenėnas, assured him that he had no them and said the entire monastery would discuss future plans.

« We think we are talking to each other, but these are internal conversations, » Nenėnas said.

He did not talk about what was planned to do already on the excavator on the redden plot. People passing by see that part of the plot is fenced with a fence of metal segments, and the land is seen.

He said that the decision of his brother Benedict’s life would not only coincide with the lyceum.

« In support of the previous leadership of the monastery, I think we do not need to expand anymore and commit to larger volumes. We need to deal with what we have, » the monastery manager said.

Will look for another place

Mayor of Klaipeda Arvydas Vaitkus said that he supported the idea of ​​Lyceum’s establishment near the monastery, because in the northern part of the city schools and kindergartens are very lacking.

« Starting the construction of the Dragoon Quarter was provided for the emergence of educational institutions. Lyceum’s efforts to settle in the northern part of Klaipeda fascinated me, and I supported the project. But the monastery’s right to decide what decisions they make. As far as I hear from the monks, they do not intend to continue this project. There are more than one place on the northern side of the city where the lyceum can be established by the Lyceum leaders and discuss such opportunities. ”

The mayor assured that Lyceum might appear in another place, but while working meetings were not to be revealed.

The head of Klaipeda Lyceum R. Kontautienė assured that she was choosing a new plot for another Lyceum unit.

Soon, the nursery in Dragūnai Street with primary classes will be transformed into a Lyceum unit with primary classes. The kindergarten will move to a new place.

« We are now focusing on the kindergarten, which we are going to open next September. All documents are already being completed. Healthy, to boost their immunity, ”said R. Kontautienė.

It seems that the Order of the Monks is such a closed organization that it is not the right to know either their plans or decision arguments.
