« Who remembers the Cambodian genocide? » At the Images Forum – Liberation

For three weeks, under the sponsorship of Rithy Panh, the Images Forum organizes an unprecedented cycle of projections 40 films, meetings and exhibition on mass crime perpetrated by the Khmer Rouge. This program initiated by researchers Soko Phay and Pierre Bayard aims to make this event better known and to question its consequences, especially in the works of artists. Among these highlights of which Release is a partner, we will point out:

• Tuesday April 15, screening-debate with François Roux (lawyer), Jeanne Suzler (lawyer) and Arnaud Vaulerin (journalist at Release). 9 p.m.

• Wednesday April 16, an opening evening mixing cinema, dance and literature, especially with Jean-Baptiste Phou. From 7:30 p.m.

• Thursday, April 17, an evening devoted to comics with a meeting around the year of the hare, Tian trilogy. 19 hours

• Friday April 18, 25 and May 2, film lessons on « Ghost memory, » Can cinema console us?  » and on « differential memory ».

• A retrospective of Rithy Panh’s work in 9 films.

• Films of the new generation represented by Davy Chou and Kavich Neang, which will be present.

• Documentaries and films shot by Western directors including Roland Joffé, Angelina Jolie, Bruno Carette.

• From Tuesday, April 15 to Sunday, May 4, an exhibition on « Les Paysages-Mémoires du Cambodge ».
