Maypole voting in the district of Dillingen: These touching stories are behind the pictures
Not only the couples were allowed to participate. The Wittislingen children’s fire brigade also set a tree. The youngest participants are just four years old: Lilli got the tree from the best friend and neighboring boy Florian. And you can’t be too old for a maiele either: at least that shows the story of Isolde Hietmann from Hohenreich. Before the freightache, she still said to her seven grandchildren, six grandchildren, that you don’t have to be sad if you were not given a maypole. « I have never got a maypole either, » writes Hietmann. The next morning the 70-year-old did not believe her eyes: in front of her house there was a tree with a heart on which « grandma » stands. « I have the world’s best grandchildren who make their grandma very happy, » writes Hietmann about the picture.
