Who is Simon Zereci, the new director of the Republic Guard?
Simon Zereci graduated from Skanderbeg Military High School and then attended higher education at the United Officers’ High School in the « everyone » specialty.
He began his military career in 1986 in the structures of the Ministry of Defense, initially as commander of the military ward Zadrima, then as chief of training and others. In 1988 he joined the Republican Guard, where he served in a series of functions, such as: Toge Commander; Physical preservation specialist in the Directorate of Security of High State Personalities; Toge commanist in the operating company; Deputy Commander of the Operating Company; Head of the Minister of the Minister of the Minister of Public Order; Accompanying officer at the Office for the Protection of Personalities; Companion in the support group in the branch of preservation and protection of senior state personalities; Group commander in the Special Unit; and others.
During his long military career, he is distinguished for his dedication and high professionalism, endangering his life in the line of duty. In September 1998 he was injured during the service while holding the post of deputy commander of the operating company.
Zereci has carried out a series of training and qualifications at home and abroad in the field of security, such as: Personalities Protection Course (VIP) in Egypt; training for providing senior state personalities with American instructors; International security program developed by US security specialists; Training in advanced self -defense techniques « Krav Maga Maor » and others.
In 2020 he received the rank of colonel, which with the new rank system converted to the first leader. While the rank of senior management was given when he was appointed Deputy Director General of the Guard by order of the Minister of Interior.
From today he is the Director General of the Republic Guard.
