Who can make direct contact possible

Infantino, Schwab or Gingrich? Anyone who can enable Switzerland a direct connection to Donald Trump

Switzerland must now use all channels to gain direct access to US President Trump, says old Federal Councilor Adolf Ogi. He recommends a golf game in Mar-A-Lago.

The bad news for Switzerland does not tear off. On Wednesday evening it was announced that US President Donald Trump drummes up a penalty of 32 percent in Switzerland. It is 12 percent higher than that of the EU and brings competitive disadvantages to the country.

The following evening, Trump said in front of journalists on board the presidential machine Air Force One that the pharmaceutical industry is also looking at: « I think that the pharmaceutical industries are introduced to an extent that has never been seen before. »

Switzerland sees itself again as an exporting nation in a very difficult situation. It is all the more as the Federal Council has no direct line to that man and his closest environment, who decides all of these decisions: Donald Trump. Federal President Karin Keller-Sutter admitted this at a media conference.

The Federal Council does not manage to penetrate into the Oval Office in Washington with its arguments: Switzerland has already abolished industrial tariffs. It is the sixth largest investor in the United States. And it offers 400,000 highly paid jobs.

Strategically, two central questions arise: How can the government build a direct wire to Donald Trump as quickly as possible? And how is it supposed to communicate in the USA in general?

« Obviously, someone from Switzerland is now needed who plays in Mar-A-Lago Golf, » says old Federal Councilor Adolf Ogi on request-and laughs. Ogi thinks of Finnish President Alexander Stubb, who recently paid Trump an informal surprise visit to Florida, played a round of Golf with him and discussed about Ukraine. Shortly afterwards it became known that Trump’s impatience towards Russia is growing sharply.

« Switzerland has to use all channels that offer a chance to meet US President Trump, » says OGI. In his Federal Council, he made long contacts with global top politicians such as France’s ex-State President François Mitterrand and US Ex President Bill Clinton. Ogi sees three people who could help convey a meeting with Trump.

1. WEF founder Klaus Schwab

Klaus Schwab is the man who probably has most of the Nazi numbers of heads of state. He founded the WEF World Economic Forum in Davos. In 2018 and 2020, Schwab managed to bring Trump to Davos as a US president. In 2025, immediately after Trump’s second choice, he made it to keep a speech by video at WEF. Already then WEF President Børge Brende invited Donald Trump to Davos for next year, which he acknowledged with a smile.

« Switzerland should look for contact with Callista Gingrich, » says Ogi. « Your husband is a very influential Republican. » Ogi says the Swiss embassy in Washington would have to make this contact – « if she hasn’t already done it ». Gingrich still has to be officially appointed.

3. FIFA boss Gianni Infantino

The Swiss-Italian FIFA boss Gianni Infantino does not have the best reputation in Switzerland. But he has a very good connection to Donald Trump and was even in the Oval Office-because the 2026 World Cups take place in the USA, Canada and Mexico. Trump calls Infantino the « King of Football » and the German « Sportschau » wrote of « two autocrats who understand each other ». « I would use Infantino, » says Ogi. «He and Trump get along. It would help if he says Trump that he should receive Federal President Karin Keller-Sutter in Florida because it also benefits FIFA. »
