Who can be another pope? Cardinal Krajewski from Poland has good chances
After the death of Pope Franciszek, the eyes of the Catholic world are turned to the Vatican, where preparation for the conclave is underway. Cardinal Konrad Krajewski, known for his charity and close cooperation with Pope Francis, is mentioned among the potential successors of the Holy Father.
Who can be another pope? Expert: The list of names is short
Father Kawecki, when asked about speculation about the potential successor of Francis, said that « the list of names is extremely short, but it should also be noted that every choice of pope is a surprise. »
Although there is a lot of speculation, experts agree: the list of real candidates for the papal throne is very short. There are several possibilities, but the names that have real chances are not more than five, say the Vaticanists. Clergy from Italy, the Philippines, Africa and … Poland are mentioned among potential popes.
Cardinal Karol Krajewski – papal almster
One of the candidates taken into account may be Cardinal Karol Krajewski, whose Italian daily « La Repubblica » hailed « Robin Hood Pope ». This is probably related to the function held by the clergyman in the Vatican. Since 2013, he has been a papal almsman dealing on behalf of the Holy Father charity.
The Polish cardinal comes from Łódź. He is not only a Roman Catholic clergy, but also a doctor of theological sciences in the field of liturgy. In 2019, it got loud in the Italian media thanks to a certain event. The cardinal then came to one of the Roman tenement houses, which was illegally occupied by about 450 people (including 100 children). He broke the seals securing the current meters, and then declared that from that moment he would pay the debt bills at 300,000. euro (approx. PLN 1.2 million) of the building.
– I personally know Cardinal Krajewski, we studied at the same time in Rome. And with all due respect to the beauty of this character, I do not think that he is really a real candidate for the successor of the Holy Father. But theoretically everything is possible – said Fr. Kawecki and summed up that there would certainly be surprises in this matter.
