Every cupboard in the house of a very old woman from Oostkamp was searched on Monday night. The woman has been in the hospital since the weekend and some burglars made it eagerly used. A number of things, including jewelry and timepieces, disappeared. Now the family is looking for witnesses. « The perpetrators have taken their time quietly, » responds the grandson.
Near the Molenstraat, a few burglars are already visiting the house of a very old woman. The lady still lives independently at home, but is currently staying in the hospital. Family members and a neighbor pass through the lady’s home every day to pick up things, but also to keep an eye on things.

Last year and two weeks ago there was a burglary attempt in the home. « It is unreal, » the grandson responds. « Two weeks ago, strangers tried to break in through a ladder against the facade through the upper floor. My mother stayed with my grandmother that night because she is in need of help. In the window at the top they bore holes, but that made a hatch down. » The daughter woke up, lit the light and the burglars were walking it up.
Investigation of the police
Last Monday night it was again a price. Between 2 and 3 hours, burglars would have put their battle in the house near the Molenstraat. The entire house, both above and below, was turned upside down. Jewels, timepieces, money and shoes disappeared with the Noorderzon. The family hopes to find witnesses through a call. « The perpetrators have quietly taken their time, because every envelope was open. They were probably out on cash. If someone has noticed something suspicious, we ask you to contact the police. All information is welcome. »

According to the grandson, the burglars had been fishing the house for a while. « It is to say high on their wishlist, » says the grandson. « It is striking that it is short after the hospitalization of my grandmother. She was taken away with the ambulance, so maybe it is people from the neighborhood or who passed it and who saw it. It should certainly be someone who is familiar with the environment. » For example, the burglars fled through the garden. And that was not a luke -striking choice. « There is a hole in the hedge that borders the neighbors’ garden. Through that hole they walked to the other garden and finally again on public roads. »
Police zone Het Houtsche confirms that some agents arrived on Tuesday 8 April after a report of burglary. « An official report was also drawn up on 1 April for attempt burglary, » says Lien Vermeersch. « The investigation into the facts is currently ongoing. »
