Where Luxembourg’s prominence of champagne suddenly, France’s football stars soon play
For athletes, fans and celebrities from Luxembourg, the Stade Jean Bouin in Paris was the first point of contact during the Olympic Games. There was the Maison du Luxembourg. Grand Duke Henri, Prime Minister Luc Frieden and other guests were able to compete in the Pétanque, who are watching the Olympic Games on TV or triggering together.
There were mainly German flags on the lawn, after all, the Luxembourgers shared the Stade Jean Bouin with the DOSB (German Olympic Sports Association). The Liechtensteiners also organized events in the stadium.
Billionaire and Red Bull do a common cause
The sports facility, built in 1925, will soon be busy. If the stadium was more known as a rugby site in the past, the women’s team of the football club Paris Saint-Germain also had some games there in recent years.
From the 2025/2026 season, a Parisian men’s team in Stade Jean Bouin also plays – but not that of PSG. The city rival Paris FC moves to the stadium, which is located right next to the Princes Parc in which the Champions League semi-finalist plays. Since Paris FC made the promotion to Ligue 1 perfect on Friday, there will be direct duels in the coming season.
