The institutions responsible for security on an ongoing basis monitor the situation and are ready for quick response. Residents are asked to track weather messages and RCB alerts, which can be updated depending on the development of the situation.
Risk of flooding. IMGW warns against increasing river level
On Thursday, the Institute of Meteorology and Water Management also announced Hydrological warnings 1 and 2 in connection with the expected increase in water level in many regions of the country. The alerts apply to the provinces of Lower Silesia, Podkarpackie, Świętokrzyskie, Opolskie, the southern part of Lubuskie, as well as areas in the Lublin, Greater Poland, Mazowieckie, northern part of Silesia and a significant part of Łódź.
IMGW experts indicate that heavy rainfall can lead to rapid water in smaller rivers and watercourses. Urban areas are particularly vulnerable, where storm sewage system often does not cope with a lot of water, which increases the risk of local flooding. In many places it is possible to exceed the warning states and even alarm. The alerts remain in force until the Friday morning, until 4 am or 11.
