Where do the mushrooms grow? Look for them in these places and the basket will be full
Poland is a real paradise for mushroom pickers. From August to October, forests abound in various species of mushrooms. The best regions for mushroom picking are the border between the Pomeranian and Kuyavian-Pomeranian voivodships, as well as areas of the voivodships of Greater Poland, Lublin, Świętokrzyskie and Lesser Poland. This is where you can most often count on finding a lot of prosperous specimens.
Mushroom season – where to go for mushroom picking?
Effective mushroom picking requires knowledge of the area we visit. Experienced mushroom pickers, coming back to the same places every year, know perfectly well at which part of the forest and what time specific species of mushrooms appear.
This knowledge is acquired with time – So let’s regularly explore various forests, paying attention to the specificity of the ground and the treeunder which mushrooms grow. It should be remembered that the mycelium, hidden in the ground, is a long -term body, which is why mushrooms can appear every year in the same places.
It is worth planning your mushroom picking when it is warm and after rain, when the humidity of the air promotes the development of fruiting bodies.
Where do the mushrooms grow?
Different species of mushrooms prefer different types of forests and environmental conditions. Koźlars can most often find under birch, pine trees, poplars, hornbeam, larchs and hazel. Chanterelles grow under pines and spruces, sometimes also under birch, beech and oaks. Maślaki liked deciduous and mixed forests, and the prucks are most often found in coniferous forests, e.g. under pines and spruces.
Brown mushrooms are most often found in coniferous forests, but sometimes also in deciduous forests, under oaks and beeches. In turn, golden mushrooms are popular in the mountains, primarily under spruce, pine and oaks. Whereas Riga usually grow under pines, as well as in grassy areas and well -sunny places.
It is worth paying attention to the environment in which we are – understanding what tree species favor individual mushrooms can significantly increase the chances of abundant harvest.
Safety rules during mushroom picking
Mushrooming is above all a pleasure, but you have to remember that it can be dangerous. The basic rule is to collect only those mushrooms that we have absolute certainty that they are edible. If in doubt, it is better to leave the mushroom in the woods than to risk health.
In addition, the principles of nature protection should be observed – avoid collecting mushrooms in national reserves and parks and not destroy fungi that can play an important role in the ecosystem, even if they are not suitable for consumption.
