When the garden bed becomes a major event

I like to try out new hobbies. Sometimes also in several attempts. This year it was time again: after a previous failure, I wanted to try gardeners again about two years ago.

I didn’t inherit my mother’s green thumb, but my motto is: giving up is not an option. So Off to the hardware storeBought leaf salads nets (safe is safe), and because I want to help the bees, also a bag of sunflower seeds. On the back: a crystal -clear guide. Two to three seeds per job so that something really grows.

The planned five plants became fifteen, which are now pushing in my bed like concert goers before admission.

Anyone who already knows me knows: Instructions are my favorite reading, so of course I kept myself meticulously. About three weeks ago I drilled several holes directly into the bed and strictly adhered to the requirements on the seed pack. Two to three seeds should be placed per planter, so that insect food is guaranteed to grow.

Read too:

Now the shock: contrary to my expectations – and the information on the seed bag – every single seed germinated. The planned five plants became fifteen, which are now crowded in my bed, such as concert goers before admission.

What followed was, so to speak, the botanical variant of Tetris: carefully fumbling and apart plants, expanding beds, implementing them gently. And while I pulled new sunflower boundaries with the spade in my hand, I realized that you can stick to all the rules – and still score out. And who knows, maybe my garden will soon become the best visited summer event.

From the life of the LW journalists

The “gazettchen” is an informal column in which the authors legally tell about their everyday experiences or even give an insight into their thoughts. This has a long tradition: On December 3, 1946, an opinion with the title « Today » appears for the first time at the top of the side left on the first local side in the « Luxemburger Word ». On January 13, 1971, the « Gazettchen », which has been extremely popular with readers, then became the « gazette », which has kept its Premium-Platz in Luxembourg’s top-class daily newspaper to this day and across all layout.
