– When the bill always ends up with you
There is one thing the Labor Party, the SV and the Center Party in Alta are experts on: sending the bills on – right in your mailbox.
When the budgets crack and the economy goes into dating, they do not pull in a bucket to stop the leak. No, then they pick up the toolbox marked fees – and turn on even harder.
Increased municipal fees, more property taxes, parking fees in the center – and it is you and I who will cover the political bidosis.
But here is the reality: Alta municipality uses more than it has. Not because there is a crisis in the world, but because management does not dare to grab what really costs.
And while the calculation breaks all frames, we are now facing a cut need of NOK 97 million in 2025. It is blood red. What does political leadership do?
Yes, they choose to park the demolition of the old town hall – an expense item that could have been cleared away. Instead, they let the decay dare and incur approximately NOK 4 million in extra expenses.
It’s almost so you have to rub your eyes. When all warning lights flash, they sit on their hands and allow the costs to grow like weeds in the ditch.
The Progress Party has said it clearly: If we are to get out of this, we must cut before we demand more. We must dare to say that not everything is sacred. That we don’t actually need three middle managers in each office. That we cannot keep alive structures that belong in the 80-90s.
And what really stings? When we try to think ahead, get the proceeds up in a healthy way – then they say no. We proposed to seek the status of tourist town. It could provide longer opening hours, more trade, more visits, more speed in the center, more tax revenue. But the answer was no. « It’s too little investigated. » And indulgence with people’s willingness to work. They can’t even fill out a form and send it to the state. It really says everything.
We at Frp believe in cleaning up our own house. We believe in giving people left for the money they pay – not to chase them with invoices and measuring sticks. And we believe in a municipality that generates income, not one who sucks more out of each citizen because it does not bother to think again.
Ultimately, this is about respect. Respect for people’s work, time and money. When the municipality chooses not to clear its own mess, but instead sends the bills – then you are not the one who has failed. They are.
