When renovating them can be transformed into modern and attractive housing
Resistant to environmental impact, durable and safe
The modernization of the apartment building today is based on a comprehensive point of view: it is no longer sufficient to renovate the outside – it is necessary to determine the general condition and potential of the house. According to Jurgita Černeckienė, a scientist at Kaunas University of Technology, if the size and planned solutions of the building meet the needs of the residents, the house was maintained, the supporting structures are solid – it is worth renovation.
« It is difficult to say what new construction houses have, which could not be achieved through the renovation of old apartment buildings, » says J. Černeckienė. In her opinion, renovated buildings can continue to withstand loads, external environmental effects, and become quite durable and safe. If the layout of the premises does not meet the expectations and needs of the residents, they can often be redesigned, even by renovating which walls can be demolished. For example, connect the balcony to the kitchen or room, thus expanding them.
Efficiently solve the challenges of urban life
According to Mantas Šakočius, a member of the Lithuanian Civil Engineers’ Union, the building needs to be regarded as a seamless system and integrated renovation measures to perform quality renovation. I.e. y. To plan quality insulation, modern heating and ventilation systems, heat bridges removal, special attention to tightness, long -lasting, Lithuanian climate building materials.
« New state -funded measures also contribute to better quality renovation, which allow not only the energy efficiency of apartment buildings, but also living conditions. The buildings become more visually attractive, the value of the dwellings. The challenges are from convenience and ecology to safety, ”says M. Šakočius.
It is possible to transform according to today’s standards
The historical aspect is also an important aspect – according to the architect Džiugas Lukoševičius, the apartment buildings of the Soviet era, and their districts are a sign of a certain era in Sweden. To preserve the trace of such construction in the structure of the city, meaning to maintain the continuity of history and the urban diverseness, which has its own value and role.
« This is not just a uniqueness of Lithuania – many European countries, such as Germany, the Netherlands, Sweden. Structures that have survived to this day can be transformed to meet today’s cities’ quality standards, » says the architect.
It is now a good time to decide on apartment renovation.
