When dialog gives results – altaposten.no
Extended use of snowmobile trails delights many years after year. This year that previously, some trails were held open an extra week, other trails to over 17 May. When trails are closed, it is often reindeer husbandry that gets « blamed » and then I feel it is okay to remind you that there are happy things.
Gave results
One example is that the cabin owners and users of Skaidi as an exit site over the past two years have experienced something they have never experienced before. Namely, that the scooter trail from Skaidi to Doggivann has had an extended opening. Why this has not been possible in the past I will not speculate, but what I know is that the last two years there has been good dialogue with the unit owners in reindeer husbandry, and the conversations have made an extension possible. This shows that dialogue produces results, while lack of dialogue often gives less understanding of each other, which in turn creates conflict.
A weekend or two extra in the mountains may seem insignificant, but it is when the fish bites and the sun is high in the sky that the bonfire coffee tastes best.
Consensus
In March last year, the Northern Calotte people delivered a statement from the county council where we asked the municipalities to collaborate to link the trail network together. At that time, it was mainly a collaboration between the Alta, Hammerfest and Porsanger municipality that laid the foundation for the statement. A trail from Skaidi to Alta has been desired for many years, but you still have not succeeded in getting it.
This meant the majority of the county council was very good input, and the statement was adopted against two votes (MDG and Left). In the Sennaland between Skaidi and Alta, there are reindeer fences that the scooter trail between the municipalities can follow.
Continue the job
The Northern Calotte people will therefore encourage the municipalities to continue their job with such a trail, in close dialogue with the reindeer owners who use the area of part of the year. Both business and locals will enjoy this.
And when they are first started it should also be possible to link the trail between Lille-Lerresfjord and Kvalsund with the trail that runs from Leirbotnvann to Store-Lerresfjord/Nástejávri (star water). There are only a few kilometers missing, as it certainly is also elsewhere in the county. The call to cooperate to link the trail network together therefore goes to all the municipalities in Finnmark.
