« What you do here is a really good choice »
On Thursday afternoon, Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen made his way past Gerlev Sports College, where she met the students for an open -minded conversation about democratic education, youth life and the world we are all part of right now.
It writes Gerlev in one press release.
The students had prepared a number of questions that set the framework for an exciting and mutually respectful conversation that ranged from the political to the personal – with both seriousness and humor. One of the questions read: « If the Folketing was a college – who should be your roomie? » The answer will be between the prime minister and the students, but it can be revealed that it was pretty funny!
The conversation also affected the need for spiritual build -up in a pressured time, and the students shared their own experiences with the strong and committed community at Gerlev. The prime minister listened, challenged and shared his own perspectives. She emphasized the value of college. « What you do here – to go to college – is a really good choice for a young person, » she told the students and elaborated that being able to be in a committed community and feel responsible for others – it also does good for society! The conversation and exchange of pointers and perspectives gave students a very unique insight into and understanding of the open Danish democracy and the conversations it enables.
