The National Commission for State Regulation in the Fields of Energy and Utilities (NERCEP) has simplified gas transportation to Ukraine through the Transbalkan Corridor.
About it reports NERCEP press service Ministry of Energy.
The corresponding decision provides for a single auction for the distribution of capacity at all points of the Transbalance Corridor on the route of natural gas transportation from Greece to Ukraine instead of individual auctions in each country, which makes the project economically more attractive and efficient.
Ukraine’s participation in the international gas project will allow to import up to 3 million cubic meters of gas per day (or about 1 billion cubic meters per year).
The National Commission has made a decision to agree on the provision of the GTS of Ukraine by a joint product of transportation services together with the operators of gas transport systems of Bulgaria (Bulgartransgaz), Greece (Desfa SA), Moldova (VESTMOLDTRANSGAZ SRL).
« Such a step will increase the attractiveness of the Ukrainian natural gas market, as well as to expand the possibilities of diversification of sources of supply. This, in turn, will strengthen the energy security of the region in the conditions of armed aggression by the Russian Federation, » the NERCEP said.
« We look forward to the positive decisions of all participating countries to use a transbalk route for our common strategic goals, » said Energy Minister Herman Galushchenko.
The Transbaalkan route opens access to LNG terminals in Greece.
Recall:
Ukraine in the near future will start Gas imports along the Transbaalkan Corridor, except for the current gas import from Hungary, Poland and Slovakia.
