What missions will the easy corveta bought by Romania have

The light corvette whose acquisition was approved by the Supreme Defense Council (CSAT) will be delivered to Romania in about six months, sources in the field of defense on Wednesday.

The endowment with a light corvette ship in the Hisar class contributes to the consolidation of the capabilities intended for the execution of a broad spectrum of missions in the Romanian responsibility area, such as the protection of the critical maritime infrastructure, patrol missions and independent combat missions within some naval groups.

The delivery time is « extremely short », about six months, in the current configuration, followed by its endowment in a Romanian site with the battle systems requested by the Romanian Naval Forces, the sources say.

The CSAT approved, in March, the endowment of the Romanian Naval Forces with a new, light corvette type, capable of executing, in the shortest time, a multitude of missions, in order to initiate the necessary steps by the Ministry of National Defense to make the purchase. At this moment, the letter will be sent to the Romanian Parliament, for approving the acquisition, as required by the current legislative framework, is in preparation, given that this contract will exceed 100 million euros.

The light corvette ship is equipped with modern navigation and communications systems and also has a very wide range of state -of -the -art sensors and systems, which provides the ship a high combat potential in all battle environments. It has a hangar that provides facilities for an average helicopter and a pilot aircraft.
