What history textbooks are read by Neimantas and the whole Nemunas Dawn – maybe Lavrov’s History Litvy?
I am delighted that the Seimas has removed this issue from the agenda at the beginning of the morning meeting. 86 members of the Seimas voted in favor of not being considered, four abstained, but 29 representatives of parliament, including virtually the entire « Nemunas Dawn » faction and, unfortunately, was elected K. Neimantas in the single -member constituency.
Our County Seyman Karolis was born in late 1991, already in independent Lithuania. He neither saw nor remembers the difficult and very busy times of their time. He did not see the first sessions of the Supreme Council-Reconstruction Seimas, did not experience the euphoria and determination of the Lithuanian people, the proclamation of the independence, the great anxiety and the bloody events of January 13 are also known to him only from the rage.
I have no doubt that every citizen interested in at least some Lithuanian history knows. Following the restoration of independence, the presidential institution has not yet existed, and the chairman of the Supreme Council performed the functions of the Head of State in accordance with the temporary constitutional provisions.
Professor V. Landsbergis, who held this position at the time, actually played the role of the president – led the state, made fundamental decisions, signed legislation, organized the country’s defense and represented Lithuania internationally.
I do not know what history textbooks are read in the Mėdauva constituency elected Seyman And his entire faction in the Seimas, who voted for the merits of V. Landsbergis to the merits of Lithuania’s independence. Maybe « History Litvy » (« History of Lithuania »), published by Moscow these days, and was written by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov?

Analysts note that this « publication » is part of a wide -scale information campaign aimed not only to discredit Lithuania’s historical identity, but also to justify possible future actions against it.
Isn’t it the same – the discredit of the identity of Lithuania’s historical and political independence – the voters for V. Landsbergis’ personality and the merits of this man would be muddy with a dirty rag?
In my opinion, yesterday’s vote of a Member of the Seimas K. Neimantas is like a spit in the face of Palanga residents.
Palanga has long been famous for its right -wing, and a large community of political prisoners, deportees and supporters of the Sąjūdis lives. Ignoring the attitude of these people is the least disrespectful. If someone does not like V. Landsbergis or Conservatives, let it be. Differences in opinion in politics are inevitable. However, this should not become the basis for wiping our feet into the history of our state.
So what did our representative vote for? For the people of Palanga? For those who survived exile, created the Sąjūdis, believed in freedom and sought it?
I really want to believe that this is a mistake. That this is a misunderstanding. But inside very sorry. Because such a vote is not just a political decision. This is a choice that hurts. Not because it is Landsbergis. And because it’s our story. And she deserves respect.
