What Grand Duchess Maria Teresa regretted the most
On October 3, a historic moment will take place: Grand Duke Henri of Luxembourg (69) will officially abdicate. The transition to his eldest son, hereditary duke Guillaume (43), was initiated in October last year when Henri appointed him deputy.
Grand Duchess Maria Teresa, on Henri’s side for 44 years, is looking forward to the new phase of life. Together they served the country for a quarter of a century – a time when the welfare of the state often had priority from the family.
In an interview with the Spanish magazine “Hola! « the Grand Duchess confessed that her five children – Guillaume, Félix (40), Louis (38), Alexandra (34) and Sébastien (32) – sometimes came too short: « I admit that I did not devote my five children as much time as I would have liked to have wanted. My husband was often priority. My husband and I was at the country at the clock Disposal. »
Grand Duchess Maria Teresa: « I feel at home everywhere »
After the handover of the official business to Guillaume and his wife Stéphanie (41), the outgoing Grand Ducal couple wanted one thing above all: more time for themselves and the family. Travel and the care of the eight grandchildren are at the top of the wish list. « I was lucky enough to have two loving grandmothers, » says Maria Teresa. « I know how important this role is. That is why it is very important to me to be there for my grandchildren. »
