In the sun, there were unusual double eruptions of the mass, which, having reached the Earth, can provoke moderate geomagnetic storms and polar glows.

This is stated in the prediction of space weather from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Research Office (Noaa), informs Space.com.

Scientists have found that on April 12 and 13, a rare double eruption of solar magnetic threads took place on the surface of the central star of our planets. During this phenomenon, two coronal emissions occurred in the sun. These huge clouds of charged particles can disrupt the Earth’s magnetic field by causing geomagnetic storms.

According to scientists, storms will be moderate – G2 class. Therefore, storms can cause visible polar glows even outside their normal latitudes, reaching the northern states of the United States.

« These sunny storms are likely to move slowly but tight, so they will have a good blow! » She wrote In the social network X physicist from the space weather Tamita SKOV.

According to her, the consequences of explosions in the sun will be palpable on Earth on the evening of 15 or at the beginning of the day on April 16. Determining the exact time of magnetic storms on Earth caused by the activity of the sun is a complex task, so the forecasts are usually inaccurate.

It should be borne in mind that even if the emissions of the coronal mass reach the earth, it will not necessarily lead to a polar glow. Bright colors in the night sky occur if the alignment of the magnetic field will allow the mass from the sun to connect with the magnetosphere of the Earth.

Earlier we toldWhy magnetic storms occur and how accurate their pronoses are.
